Ani's Last Day of Life

Ani was a beautiful horse. A gentle horse. Full of cuddles, full of love for her owner and anyone who came near her. One day she was jumping 3 1/2 foot fences, the next she was being laid to rest not 10 feet away.

Ani was diagnosed with a rapidly progressive fungal infection. She was uncomfortable. Her owner decided it was for the best to have her put down.

I was lucky enough to photograph Ani’s last full day alive. It was a beautiful experience. While yes, it was full of dread, that day was also full of an awe-inspiring love for a girl and her horse. We laughed, we cried. We spent the day creating memories that will last forever. And we are lucky to have photographs to remind us of this special day.
